EYFS Class letter Summer 2

EYFS Overview Summer 2

Hello and welcome to Reception and the Oakfield family! Our main class teacher is Mrs Lycett and our support assistants are Miss Mitchell and Miss Munro. Mrs Bright teaches the class on a Wednesday morning and we have an exciting session in the forest with Mrs Maguire every week too!

Our learning spaces are flexible, inviting and engaging; we offer a very welcoming environment with lots of opportunities to get busy. A typical day for us begins with magic bagel breakfast before a wake up shake up. We then have a phonics session following our programme Supersonic Phonic Friends.

Our day also includes lots of moments for ‘Discovery Time’ where we learn through play. We have vast outdoor learning areas, providing opportunities to become builders in our construction area, explore with water, become chefs in the mud kitchen or artists in our painting area.

We aim to build positive relationships with all our families. We have exciting investigative and explorative play opportunities across the year and we always have our door open if you have any questions or concerns.

We capture the children’s learning using Tapestry by taking pictures, adding comments and linking them to the learning goals; celebrating successes and achievements. The children love sharing their adventures with their friends so please post what they have been up to on Tapestry so we can share it in class. We will send home weekly Supersonic Phonic Friends newsletters to support your child with their phonics and we would be very grateful if you could talk with your child and help them practise their sounds at home.

Move up day 2026

It was really fun getting to know everyone today! We started the day with the story ‘The Grand Hotel of Feelings’, and then we explored some of the classroom whilst also making some crowns. On them we shared: our names, favourite colours and animals, and a picture of ourselves.
Then Miss Senior came and shared a story, ‘The Tiger Who Came to Tea’, as she will be working in year 1 on a Wednesday!
After lunch, we took a trip to the art room, where we finger painted some leaves onto trees, and also drew half portraits of ourselves using photographs taken in the morning, then finished the day with a short amount of adventure time outside.
We are looking forward to seeing everyone again in September :)
