Year 3 Curriculum Overview Summer 2
Our class teaching team is lead by Mr Lycett and Mrs Cascarini. Our learning is supported by Miss Sheppard and Lainey.
Reading – Please continue to read with your children every day. We can really see a difference in those who are reading at home, so keep up the good work!
Books – The children will come home with their reading books and also a library book each week (we aim to change these on a Friday), please ensure that your children are reading their reading books to you. You will see the difference between their reading books and library books. Their library books are books that have caught their eye and may be books that you read to them (depending on the level of book that they have chosen).
Homework – Every Friday the children will bring home a Fab 4 Poster. This has 4 pieces of homework – reading, maths, spellings and chatter matters. The children earn 1 dojo for each completed piece of homework and an extra dojo if they have completed all of it! To evidence this please continue to write in their reading records, and make a note on the back of the poster page informing which sections have been done (as some homework tasks cannot be physically handed in – for example, family games nights, discussions, weekend walks, etc). We’ve had a fabulous start to the autumn term and the children continue to make us proud every single day!
Move up day 2026
It was an exciting transition day in Year 4. We began with a game of Room 101, which involved persuading classmates to vote for proposed ‘pet hates’. Due to the thoughtfulness of our children, it was difficult to choose, but our top 5 were: Littering, proposed by Maddie and Elodie; war, proposed by Freddy; Sully put forward ‘paying for things we need to survive’; no WIFI was a popular choice, from Willow; and finally, Evie and Albie tied with convincing arguments for bullying and AI. The Year 4 team were really impressed with their persuasive arguments encouraging the class to vote for their idea. Which one would you have voted for?
