ABOUT OUR SCHOOL

Oakfield CE Aided Primary School is a wonderful school on the outskirts of Ryde. We have an amazing outdoor space, which includes a forest school, outdoor classroom, extensive playing fields and a lane that runs alongside one side of the school grounds down to Appley Beach. These special spaces are invaluable in supporting our children to grow both academically, whilst supporting their physical, social, emotional, moral and spiritual development.
Our fantastic school building opened in 2017. It has 14 purpose-built classrooms; the downstairs areas are home to our Reception and KS1 classes which have their own bespoke outdoor play areas, the Gruffalo library, Hall, Studio, Phonics Den and Champion’s Hub. Upstairs has the KS2 classrooms, and each pair of classrooms has a breakout/interventions room. Our KS2 library is also upstairs. St. John’s House is the home of Little Acorns Nursery School, our cookery room, staff room, Oak Club (wraparound care) and training rooms/administration offices upstairs. The School is very much at the heart of the community and is let out in the evenings 7 days a week. Activities include Fitness classes, Brass Band, Theatre Train and various sports clubs. This brings in additional income for the School and is an area we are continually looking to expand on. Our beautiful site also hosts bee hives, Forest School, outdoor worship garden and a Creation Station; all areas very much loved by our pupils.
Our school day starts at 8.40am and finishes at 3.10pm every day. This equates to 32.5 hours per week.
