Year 1 Curriculum overview summer 2
Our teachers are Ms Kent and Mrs Cascarini and we are supported in our learning by Mrs Simmonds and Joel. We also have some wonderful volunteers who give up their time every week to help us in class, especially with our reading.
We have forest school every week with Mrs Maguire – please send in suitable clothing. We do have waterproofs but warm clothing for under the coveralls is essential as the weather gets colder and wetter.
Books: Your child will bring home their Supersonic Phonic Friends group reading book each week which they have read daily at school with an adult. Please find time to let them practise reading this book with you during the week. We still ask for these books to come in daily as our reading volunteers will try their best to hear them read too.
Move up day 2026
Today in year 2 we met the teachers, Mrs Robinson and Miss Senior and our attuned adults, Mrs Simmonds and Kieran! We started by completing a quiz about our new teachers where we had to guess Mrs Robinson or Miss Senior. Our first activity meant our teachers could get to know us a bit better followed by team games in the sunshine! After break Mrs Robinson made worry dolls with us in case we had any worries about transition. We had lunch together in the hall and then Miss Senior created some self portraits with us this afternoon for our birthday board! We finished the day with 10 minutes of golden time where we got to play alongside our new staff members.
